Big Bang posted and done. Answering comments and returning every couple of hours to drool over the stunning art aside, I can move on now. Primarily to finishing up my thesis, but also to the DCBB, which is coming together in my head, if not on paper. It is also getting stranger and stranger. I may need some reigning in.
(Posting makes me incredibly nervous, because I keep thinking of things I should have done differently, of things that could still use work. But I had to draw the line somewhere, and even if I had had a posting date in August, I would probably still feel just as anxious. One day I'll learn to relax about what other people think of me. Some people will like this story and some people won't, and I just have to keep telling myself that's okay.
If nothing else, if you google "dead chipmunk compost" this journal comes up fifth in the results, and that's quite an accomplishment. ;) )
The NKOTBSB concert was fabulous! I remain so so in love with the Backstreet Boys, and I was really impressed with the New Kids too. I know it's easy to assume this tour was a money grab, but I really think they all love their fans and each other, and love to perform, and are still doing this because it makes them happy. It's a nostalgia tour, yes, and it's driven by love, and I think that's great.
There was a real sense of intimacy with the fans throughout the show, and I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just say that at moments it got shockingly intimate. And I also liked how it was structured not as a competition between warring boy bands, but as a joint experience. I didn't feel the need to constantly compare the two groups, or to choose a winner.
Though you know who was the winner of the whole night? Nick Carter. Boy is maybe my favourite person in the whole world right now. Sometimes I have this maternal concern for him and I worry about his life, but he really does seem to have his shit together right now. He is happy and healthy and hot as fuck and it was hard to take my eyes of him the entire night. He really really loves his job, and it shows.
I'm still feeling the after-effects. My legs and feet hurt, not just from the show but from the whirlwind tour of TO
lookturtles took me on beforehand, and my voice is kind of messed up and my ears still ring a bit. I also have a bruise in a really weird place. But I sort of love these injuries.
Anyway, I hope you all have had an excellent few days too.
