Jensen shifted nervously in his seat, waiting for the last few people to enter the conference room. They were about to do the read-through for the Supernatural Finale, and it didn’t escape him that this was the last time they’d all be doing this together. Misha and Jared were whispering conspiratorially outside the door, no doubt planning their final gag, and Jensen was more than likely their intended target.
Eric flew in, and was sitting directly next to Sera at the end of the table. Jim was sitting a few chairs down from Mark, and both were looking directly at him.
“What, do I have something on my face?” Jensen hazarded.
“Do you feel alright?” Jim asked, “You look a little pale, boy.”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just…god, I’m gonna miss this! Who’d have thought that this would be one of the things that I’ll miss.”
“Don’t let it get to you, lad.” Mark said, accent thick and familiar. “We’ve still got a whole afternoon of this. Besides, I’m sure we’ll all get together even after the wrap party.”
“With our fandom, I still see a few years of conventions ahead of us.” Jim almost lamented, smile betraying his true feelings on the matter.
Jared, who Jensen had just turned to see, was blushing as he stepped inside and took his seat to the right of him. Misha sat next to Jim, and across from Jensen.
“All right, my lovelies,” Eric joked, “Let’s get going.”
Everyone settled immediately, turning to the first page. They skimmed past the section “The Road So Far” and on to the first line. It happened to belong to Jared. While ordinarily they’d all just speak the lines, by the emotions in his boyfriend’s voice he could tell that this would be one of the rare times that everyone would give it their all. Jensen spoke next, following suit.
The afternoon pretty much proceeded that way, through the fall of God to the rescue of Castiel, all the way until “we’ve got work to do.” And when everyone reached the bottom of the final page, there was silence.
One would expect the words “The End” to be printed in bold letters.
Instead: Jensen, I love you with all my heart. Will you please do me the honors of being my husband? -Jared
Jared slid out of his seat beside his partner of five years, and took Jensen’s hand in his.
“Jensen?” Jared asked, looking up at him with the puppy dog eyes he’d perfected over the years he’s spent as Sam Winchester.
“Yes, Jare,” Jensen smiled, holding back the tears as he leant down for a hug, “Yes, I will marry you.”
Applause filled the room, accompanied by a catcall from Misha, but neither seemed to care. Jensen thumbed across Jared’s cheek, and brought him in for a slow and lazy kiss.
Jensen no longer worried about the end of Supernatural, for his life was just beginning.
