Everything was ready. Absolutely everything was perfect. Their room was set up nicely for later because Eliot had no doubts about getting the answer he wanted and he wanted their night to be as romantic as their evening.
The evening that would be plenty more romantic if Parker would bring Alec back already. Where the hell were they? He'd asked Sophie to keep an eye out for them, since she was more of a romantic than Nate was. Nate thought all the pomp and circumstance was ridiculous. They were thieves and they were two guys and they'd been going at it for two years. He figured all he had to do was ask Alec in bed or something and that'd be that.
Well, Eliot figured he could've gone that route. No, he knew he could've gone that route and Alec would've accepted with that goofy grin and that cute little laughing "yeah" he did. And then everything would've gone quick and smooth from there. But Eliot considered himself to be a traditionalist, the kind who'd go and ask a girl's daddy for permission (or a man's nana, in this case). The kind who'd have flowers and a ring and the goddamn string ensemble from the hotel ready to play some sappy, pretty song while he got down on one knee and popped the question with a ring and everything.
He hadn't gone with a diamond. He didn't think Alec would want a diamond, so that little bit of tradition had gone out the window. He did, though, have a ring. A white gold band with their initials carved onto it. A/E. Leverage was scrawled on the inside of the band and he had one to match in his pocket for Alec to put on his finger when they did the whole "I do" thing.
He blinked when he heard Nate's voice in his ear. "They're back. Parker's taking Hardison up to the room."
"Stop her," he hissed.
"Sophie's on it."
"Good." Tense minutes passed, Eliot gritting his teeth as he listened to Sophie cajole and convince Hardison to join her for dinner.
He winced when Parker started to say something about how awkward that'd be with Eliot trying to - He suspected she was going to say "propose" but Sophie smoothly cut her off and laughed. "Parker, really. That imagination!"
He winced again at Alec's next words. "What? Eliot's back? And now all of a sudden he wants to talk?" Yeah, he was mad. Hopefully Eliot could cheer him up again. "Maybe I don't wanna talk."
"Oh, Hardison, please." And Sophie worked her eyes, Eliot imagined, until Alec gave a defeated sigh.
"Fine. Let's go."
"Mission accomplished," Nate said in his ear and then sighed. "Look. Eliot... Good luck."
Eliot's lips twitched. "Thanks."
When Alec finally made an appearance in the dining room, Eliot smiled. When Alec stormed straight for him, looking as ornery as an angry bull, Eliot still smiled.
"Where have you been?" Alec demanded.
"Around. Come on, Hardison, sit down."
"Maybe I don't want to sit down."
"Okay. You can sit down in a minute, then." Eliot slid from the chair and dropped to his knee and the violists did their thing and switched songs mid-melody. Eyes turned their way, the tan-skinned rough-and-ready man, hair caught back in a short ponytail; the tall, lean black man with wide eyes and a gaping mouth. Eliot laughed. "Got nothing to say for once?"
"You shut up," Alec breathed. "I'm mad at you."
"I know you're mad at me, but you really don't have to be. Nana's flying in tomorrow morning and I don't really think she'd want you to be mad at your fiance when she lands."
"I don't have a fiance," he whispered, eyes getting wider when Eliot held out a pretty little black box. And then he flipped it open and Alec made a little choking sound.
"I love you, Alec Hardison. You're a pain in my ass, but I don't think I could stand living without you around. Marry me?"
He got a little hoked up, a little teary-eyed. He blinked rapidly and didn't answer right away, bouncing a little and looking side-to-side to try and hide just how affected he was. "I guess I have a fiance," he finally said with a watery little smile.
Eliot grinned, slipping the ring onto his finger. "I guess you do."

I only got notified of the first part of this so I sat around last night waiting for part 2 and 3 and i was soooo disappointed when I got home from work today and didn't have the rest in my inbox. So I wrote a comment begging you to finish then after it was posted I saw parts 2 & 3 and was SO happy! :D
This was perfect, I loved crazy Parker almost giving the game away, Sophie all smooth and saving the proposal, Nate thinking they could just do it in bed (no romance in him at all!) and OMG ELIOT YES! He was so perfect!
I totally forgot about Hardison and his nana - I'm such a bad fangirl!
So happy you filled this prompt, no-one ever seems to fill mine so YAY!!*dances*

That was toooooo cute, I LOVED IT. Eliot being a traditionslist is so in character as is Alec's 'tude and you had Eliot go get his Nana !!!!!!! Thanks for sharing, you got all the "voices" down pat adn then some. Thanks for sharing you love for Leverage, it shows!
