FILL: Leverage - Eliot/Hardison p1starshinedcJune 26 2011, 18:49:09 UTC
Since Hardison doesn't have a dad, I used Nana Other than that, though, this prompt SCREAMED at me. Hope you don't mind mentions of Nate/Sophie~
-
"Look. I don't even know if the man wants that kind of relationship. Y'know? It's gotta just be sex."
The blond woman at his elbow wasn't sure if Alec Hardison was talking to her or to the invisible people living in his gaming headset, so just nodded.
"For real, Parker. Everything's legal now. It's been legal for two whole days and we've been in New York for a week now and the job's almost over."
Okay. So he was talking to her. Parker nodded again, sipping Dr. Pepper from her Taco Bell cup. Well, Hardison's Taco Bell cup. But he had his giant bottle of orange-whatever between his thighs, so she didn't think he minded.
"When I told him it was legal, when we saw it on the news, what did he do?" He waited a beat, but there was no answer. He sent her a glance and realized she'd stolen his drink. He'd swear at her, but he had other things on his mind. "What did he do?" he repeated.
"He left."
"He left. Clearly that is not the thing to do when your boyfriend of two years - two years - lets you know that, hey, marriage between you guys is totally cool in this place you're at. I mean, not only did he leave me, he left in the middle of a job."
"He wasn't really doing anything," Parker put in.
"Who's side are you on?!"
She actually put some consideration into it, brows drawing together. "Yours, right?"
"Of course mine. Listen, the sex is great."
"Totally."
"Really great. It's gotta be - wait, what?"
"What? I'm being on your side."
Hardison looked at her for a long moment before shaking his head. He would probably have gotten more sympathy from Sophie, but she was off canoodling with Nate - they called it following the mark, Hardison called it canoodling. Eliot called it retarded and said that they just needed to freaking get married already.
And how unfair was that?! "He is always saying that Nate and Sophie should tie the knot, right? Well why not me? Why can't it be my turn? You know? We can get married. It doesn't have to be fancy. Just you guys. And he can wear those jeans that make his ass all fine. That would be great. That would be perfect. I can send a card to Nana with a picture and she'll be all proud that I'm finally settled down."
"Settled down? You're going to quit if you get married?"
"What?" Tirade interrupted, Hardison looked from his game to Parker again. "No. Why would I quit? I love this stuff. Eliot loves this stuff. Nate would freaking kill us. I am just saying. I love Eliot and he says he loves me. And you know what? It'd be really, really nice if he had just said he wasn't ready to get married instead of running the hell off."
"Right," Parker agreed, toasting him with her taco. Or Hardison's stolen taco.
"Damn it, Parker, I asked you if you wanted Taco Bell. You said no."
"I don't want Taco Bell. I want tacos." She bit in and Hardison let her distract him from his thoughts on Eliot.
Re: FILL: Leverage - Eliot/Hardison p2starshinedcJune 26 2011, 19:11:29 UTC
When Eliot Spencer's plane touched down, the man slung his travel bag over his shoulder, and quickly made his way out of the airport. He felt a little bad for just leaving without much warning, but with the job nearly finished he'd had to leave fast.
And Jesus was it hard to move fast when you had to sift through enough fake data to fill three NASA computers - not that he knew that for sure; Alec would know. The irritating, adorable, pain in the ass, sex on legs knew everything about all that technological crap and, contrary to what everyone seemed to believe, Eliot did pay attention when he talked about it, thank you.
Thank god he had, too, else he never would've found the woman he only knew as Nana.
But now he was back in New York and he had a few final details to see to before he gave Alec the news. He flipped open his phone and dialed the number quickly and from memory. He had no contacts actually saved into the thing, relying on his memory. It was safer that way, for all of them.
"Hey, Eliot!"
"Parker. I'm back in New York. Can you get Hardison out of the hotel for a little while?"
"For what?"
He made a disbelieving expression, waving down a taxi. "For what?" he repeated. "Are you kidding me? Get him out of the hotel for an hour so I can set the damn room up, Parker."
"I dunno..."
He would've broken the phone or hung up on her if he didn't need her for this. She'd been the only one he'd told about the plan, largely because Nate and Sophie hadn't been around. They'd been screwing in Nate's room. And then, of course, there was the fact that she and Alec were such good friends.
He rattled off the address and the name of the hotel to the taxi driver when he finally got one to pull over and slammed into the back. "Listen, Parker, we talked about this already."
"I know, but Hardison says I'm on his side. That doesn't seem to be yours right now."
"Crap. He's mad at me?"
"Well, you did kinda just leave right after he told you marriage between you guys was legal." He could hear the laugh in her voice and the picture his mind formed of her smiling all self-satisfied was probably pretty damn accurate.
"You know why I did, Parker. So just get Hardison out of there. His side is my side. Just remember to keep this a secret."
"Well where should I take him?"
"Canal Street."
Now Eliot pictured the greedy light her eyes would take at that suggestion. Canal Street was thief heaven and Eliot knew she'd keep Alec wildly distracted showing him the ropes and avoiding getting caught. It would give him plenty of time to do those last touches. "I can do Canal Street," Parker assured him.
"Great. Take him. Go now, Parker. I'm almost there and I don't want him to see me yet."
"Okay!" She hung up abruptly and Eliot only sighed. That crazy girl was going to ruin everything. On purpose, he decided even if it was an unfair and probably untrue assumption.

Everything was ready. Absolutely everything was perfect. Their room was set up nicely for later because Eliot had no doubts about getting the answer he wanted and he wanted their night to be as romantic as their evening.
The evening that would be plenty more romantic if Parker would bring Alec back already. Where the hell were they? He'd asked Sophie to keep an eye out for them, since she was more of a romantic than Nate was. Nate thought all the pomp and circumstance was ridiculous. They were thieves and they were two guys and they'd been going at it for two years. He figured all he had to do was ask Alec in bed or something and that'd be that.
Well, Eliot figured he could've gone that route. No, he knew he could've gone that route and Alec would've accepted with that goofy grin and that cute little laughing "yeah" he did. And then everything would've gone quick and smooth from there. But Eliot considered himself to be a traditionalist, the kind who'd go and ask a girl's daddy for permission (or a man's nana, in this case). The kind who'd have flowers and a ring and the goddamn string ensemble from the hotel ready to play some sappy, pretty song while he got down on one knee and popped the question with a ring and everything.
He hadn't gone with a diamond. He didn't think Alec would want a diamond, so that little bit of tradition had gone out the window. He did, though, have a ring. A white gold band with their initials carved onto it. A/E. Leverage was scrawled on the inside of the band and he had one to match in his pocket for Alec to put on his finger when they did the whole "I do" thing.
He blinked when he heard Nate's voice in his ear. "They're back. Parker's taking Hardison up to the room."
"Stop her," he hissed.
"Sophie's on it."
"Good." Tense minutes passed, Eliot gritting his teeth as he listened to Sophie cajole and convince Hardison to join her for dinner.
He winced when Parker started to say something about how awkward that'd be with Eliot trying to - He suspected she was going to say "propose" but Sophie smoothly cut her off and laughed. "Parker, really. That imagination!"
He winced again at Alec's next words. "What? Eliot's back? And now all of a sudden he wants to talk?" Yeah, he was mad. Hopefully Eliot could cheer him up again. "Maybe I don't wanna talk."
"Oh, Hardison, please." And Sophie worked her eyes, Eliot imagined, until Alec gave a defeated sigh.
"Fine. Let's go."
"Mission accomplished," Nate said in his ear and then sighed. "Look. Eliot... Good luck."
Eliot's lips twitched. "Thanks."
When Alec finally made an appearance in the dining room, Eliot smiled. When Alec stormed straight for him, looking as ornery as an angry bull, Eliot still smiled.
"Where have you been?" Alec demanded.
"Around. Come on, Hardison, sit down."
"Maybe I don't want to sit down."
"Okay. You can sit down in a minute, then." Eliot slid from the chair and dropped to his knee and the violists did their thing and switched songs mid-melody. Eyes turned their way, the tan-skinned rough-and-ready man, hair caught back in a short ponytail; the tall, lean black man with wide eyes and a gaping mouth. Eliot laughed. "Got nothing to say for once?"
"You shut up," Alec breathed. "I'm mad at you."
"I know you're mad at me, but you really don't have to be. Nana's flying in tomorrow morning and I don't really think she'd want you to be mad at your fiance when she lands."
"I don't have a fiance," he whispered, eyes getting wider when Eliot held out a pretty little black box. And then he flipped it open and Alec made a little choking sound.
"I love you, Alec Hardison. You're a pain in my ass, but I don't think I could stand living without you around. Marry me?"
He got a little hoked up, a little teary-eyed. He blinked rapidly and didn't answer right away, bouncing a little and looking side-to-side to try and hide just how affected he was. "I guess I have a fiance," he finally said with a watery little smile.
Eliot grinned, slipping the ring onto his finger. "I guess you do."
