Caspian, current reigning King of Narnia, wants to bash his own head against the wall. He blames the High King Peter for this -- though he blames the High King Peter for a lot of things.

He blames Peter for being ridiculously attractive and equally thick, though, mostly.

King Edmund only rolls his eyes when Caspian complains about the High King's obliviousness. Queen Susan refuses to listen.

Only Queen Lucy in her infinite compassion will take him seriously. But even she is tiring of his woes -- he has, after all, done nothing but court the High King and complain about said High King for the past several months.

Finally, she snaps, "Ask him to marry you, for Aslan's sake! You've done just about everything but that, Caspian."

He turns over the suggestion in his mind and decides to take it.

He finds the High King at the Howe, seated on the broken Stone Table, staring off into space. His full lips are mouthing silent words, and the torches cast his hair into gold. Caspian concludes that there is indeed no time like the present, and walks over to him.

"High King Peter?" he asks, drawing him from his reverie.

"Yes, Caspian -- and I thought I told you to call me by my name."

Caspian is struck suddenly by nervousness, his stomach flipping. But he is Narnian King, and he will not allow nervousness to stop him from trying.

"I have been courting you for several months now. You have not seemed to notice this, and it has been driving me mad." The High King's blue eyes widen as Caspian continues. "There is nothing left for me to do except request that you marry me."

High King Peter blinks owlishly for a few moments, and then his smile was blinding. "I thought I'd been imagining it. I'd love to."

Caspian takes his turn to be shocked, and when shock disappears, he drags his High King into a deep and powerful kiss.

Oh, I absolutely loved this! It was everything I hoped for and more. I love Caspian complaining about Peter to all his siblings and their reactions. Very in character. I can also see Peter not catching on to Caspian's attempts at wooing him, or as you had him say, thinking he's just imagining it.

And the ending was just perfect.

Thanks for filling my prompt! :D

Aww, I love it, for some reason, when one half of the equation is oblivious. xDD This is so cute!
