The Olympics!

I'm loving watching the Olympics. It's funny how I cheer for the Americans, but ultimately, I don't really care. They're just a celebration of humanity, of what humans can do with determination and dedication, the strength and courage and beauty we can achieve. It's amazing. And this is why I'm glad we didn't pull out of them. Well, that, and ( Read more... )

Hahaha, I just realized that my comment kind of didn't make sense. But I think you understood it anyways.

The commentator actually pointed out his turning/diving style and said that it's because of his strong legs that he pushes out faster...but, NO ONE has been able to copy this. NO ONE. They have tapes upon tapes of him doing this, but it appears like you can't copy it! Amazing!

Yeah, longer strokes are faster, that's what I meant. Shorter strokes = more cycles = more energy used = tiring faster? And Phelps breathing at every single stroke? I don't understand how that helps him, but okay. It works!

I'll pay more attention to his swimming style tonight! I haven't watched the 200m freestyle, so I'm going to be paying a lot of attention to his strokes and cycles.

I read somewhere that his elbows actually hyperextend an extra 10 degrees or something? And he has massive feet and more flexible ankles. But then again, that's not really that unusual. Sure, he's got long arms, but there are some people who have even longer arms.

I think we're going to find out at some point that he's like Lance Armstrong and has like a massive and very effectively-pumping heart and his resting heartrate is like 30, or SOMETHING.
