I'm watching Doctor Who ON TIME for the first time ever!

So, I'd like to make some grand, in-depth meta post, but that'll have to wait for next episode, since I'm probably going to be yelling lots of "OHMYGOD THAT'S NOT ROMAN!!!" and there's not much to say about this one. :P But I do have a few things to say:

How cute were the Adipose(s? How do you pluralize that?)? So freaking adorable, with the squeaks and the blobbiness and the hand-waving! I'm really glad the Doctor has that line about "They're just children, they can't help where they came from," because it's true, and people forget that far too often. Just because the parents are evil doesn't mean the children have to be.

Rose! Just before she turned around, I realized there was a reason she wasn't speaking and we hadn't seen her face, so of course I knew it was her. I'm wondering, though: since she's in some kind of trans-universe transport, is she real? A two-way hologram? Can she speak, or touch things?

Donna, that stunt with the car keys was completely idiotic. You're going to get the keys thrown out, or something, and how's your mother supposed to get there to pick them up, anyway? But I like you better than I did in your last episode, as long as you don't get excited. I usually like people better when they get excited, but not you. Oddly enough.

I also really liked the Doctor's declaration that they were just going to be "mates". He's had problems with that in the past, because every girl who loves him somehow gets her life ruined, and he loves them too but they leave. So. Good to establish that up front, this season - it'll also keep the rabid ship-hate against Donna to a minimum. :P (She still has some winning-over of me to do, though.)

Pretty good episode, overall. But the first episode of the series is never as good as the rest, and the last few are generally the best, so I'm looking forward to the rest. :D

Stupid frat boys, playing Guitar Hero outside my window. They've been making ridiculous amounts of noise all day, between the basketball and the lacrosse and the yelling and now Guitar Hero. Gorram spring. Just when I start wanting to open my window again (the air today smelled gorgeous), they start reminding me why I hate living on the first floor of a frat. Seriously, the (bad) playing is louder than the music I'm playing (since I have some consideration for my fellow humans). It's hard to follow an episode when you have to blast the dialogue to understand.
