A while ago I got my casting hint for
captainecchi's new larp, Cracks in the Orb, which will be debuting at SLAW this November. I will be playing Esaline, Issola lady and seneschal to the Viscount of Glassmoor. That doesn't mean much to me yet, as all I have is the hint, and I'm not familiar with the Dragaera novels on which the game is based, but what I know so far seems good to me.
It's a fantasy medieval game, and the colors of my nation are green and white. In my closet I have a dress which came from what my mom and I used to refer to as "the hippie store," a velor-and-silky dress with kind of a fairyland aesthetic. It has sweeping, slashed sleeves and a hemline of dangling tendrils. To give it dimension and add a little white in there, I put this white medieval shift on under it, which I wore in Across the Sea of Stars and was a very sweet gift to me from
in_water_writ.
It's not the most flattering thing in the world, but I think it has the right look. I wish you could see a bit more of the white; it's only visible at the sleeves and hem. I do like how it fills the skirt out at the bottom, though I wasn't able to take a picture that showed it very well. (Sorry for my blasted expression; I was squinting to see the shot in my phone on the dresser.)
I don't think I need much more, though I haven't chosen my shoes yet, and I should probably pick jewelry and something to do with my hair. I used to have a circlet that I wore with this dress, but I'm not sure where it got off too. Maybe I should give my mom a call and see if it's still around the house.
