Henry_barca
Henry has signed for Barca. I had my suspicions that this was going to happen for a month or two now, following the troubles behind the scenes at Arsenal, but I still held out some foolish hope that he would stay. Henry is prolly my second favorite French player after Zidane, and definitely my favorite Arsenal player, but no more as to the second. Not only is his move going to weaken my favorite English team, but he's going to further embiggen my least favorite Spanish team. At least I'll still be able to root for him in International competition, especially the upcoming Euro 2008(although Portugal will be my first team, Italy and France tying for second).
I don't know that I've mentioned it online or not, but Verizon's
FiOs Tv is going to be my chosen poison next year. I had a subscription this past year to Setanta Sports via
ITVN, but it only got me Premiership games on a regular basis, and was hit and miss with the Uefa tournaments and other International qualifications. Verizon's package will get me the ESPNs, Fox Soccer Channel, and Gol TV all with their cheaper El Conexion package. For twice my subscription to ITVN(which was 15/mo), I will get four+ times the coverage, and combined with a DVR I should be able to keep up with all my favorite teams easily. Not having Spanish or Italian coverage this past year was really frustrating.
In closing, I still have hopes for Arsenal. As long as Wenger stays on as head coach things should go well for the team, though to challenge for the title they'll need at least two major signings. I don't think they need to replace Henry, Adebayor and Van Persie up front is dangerous enough. They need experience though, and unless they make some big signings they might see more of their talent walking out before the start of this next season.
