on subbing

I read On Subbing today. It is very inspiring. If I don't go into teaching art, I'd like to try subbing for a little while. Remembering all of my traumatizing experiences in grade school makes me want to jump back in there and show kids that not all grownups suck. I seriously recommend reading the book.
Last night we went dumpstering and, for the first time in a while, we had no luck. No bagels this time! All the places we tried had mixed their trash so all the bagels were soggy.
I broke down and went grocery shopping today and stocked up on a lot of things like cliff bars and rice milk. subsequently i spent a lot of dough... oh well
SWEETEMPLOYERS: I NEED A JOB! and if schools were in session during summer I'd totally consider subbing.
I've been struggling a little with going vegan. Every once in a while when I'm offered free food, the freegan in me takes over and I forget to qustion the ingredients. other than that it's really exciting and i had fun searching for vegan things in the grocery store. being straightedge has been so easy. I never found drinking or smoking all that appealing so it was surprisingly refreshing to let go of it all. My body is really enjoying this. its only been a month, but I'm hoping it'll become a life thing. alcoholism runs deep in my family and I'd like to steer really clear of that path.
