When you die, your body dies. Since Jesus has conquered death, we will all be forgiven of the immense sins in our life when He "comes again to judge the living and the dead." After death, we are given NEW bodies. The curious thing is that all our memories and all our loved ones will be with us in paradise. But how will we recognize each other? For one thing, will my great-grandmother look the way she did when she died, the way I remember her all wrinkled and weak? No, she will probably be the most beautiful young woman she can imagine. And her great-grandmother? The same.
The thing to remember is that, while life is one of the greatest gifts of all, life after death will be an eternity of bliss and happiness. We will see everyone we have ever known in our lives and in the history of the world. We will share memories and learn more about the people and things we love than we could ever hope in this life.
... Sorry, I get a little excited about that sometimes. I'm sure you could probably find out more about this from a priest. This is only the way it's been explained to me from a couple seminarians recently. I hope this helps and gives more hope to you.
