[She nods to that. She was used to quiet people, or at least one. But there were different kinds of quiet. If she knew Shin better she might ask about it. Since she didn't she would just acknowledge his words.]
You like the ocean, right? I thought so because of your fish.
He gave her a small, but genuine smile, nodding as he looked out over the water. "I'm sort of like Umi, that way," he admitted. "Sorry the fish are... more or less everywhere."
Shin paused to consider it, then gave Presea a wry smile.
"All I ever got was an orca. I feel cheated, now." Never mind that the Orca was one of his best friends. And, okay, he had mystical armor, and four wonderful friends (six if you counted Nasuti and Jun), and a magical tiger --
He seemed happy there for a moment, but then quiet again. And now Presea might have an inkling of the problem.
"Missing home, hmm?"
She did, even though many of her friends were here. It would probably be worse on a holiday like a birthday, she thought, when it was just nice to be home.
And that got an actual laugh, though it would be hard to mistake it for a happy one.
"Just a bit," he said, his fingers sifting through the sand. "There are wonderful people here, but they're not -- it's hard to explain what it's like for me, back home." Having four other people so close they were literally a part of you -- in your heart and in your head. "I guess it's like I said to Umi when I moved in. I'm not used to being alone."
"I'm sorry. I must sound really ungrateful." He didn't mean to, honestly. "At home, my friends and I --" Did it matter? They weren't here and he needed to accept that. He'd spent too much time wishing it were different.
You're awfully quiet to be celebrating your birthday.

-- Quiet by nature, I guess. [And have a smile.]

It was a good thing that the gigantic flying fish could be placed back in its summoning jewel or there really would be no room in the apartment.

...Every team had one?
As for Shin, well, his fish really were everywhere. But at least they were quiet and well behaved and didn't mess the apartment.

"She is, but Clef's is a flying fish. No water required."

Had, Shin. You had all of that.

"No one likes being alone," she said, nodding. "But maybe they'll come here sometime. It's possible."

"Shuu was here, but he left."
