So, the forecast for the past week has been rain every day. Parking at work is an uncovered lot, so I have been good about bringing my umbrella up with me in the mornings. Yesterday, I brought lunch and went to eat it in the cafeteria. Which happens to be located in a different building. When I reached the first floor of my building, I realized that I left my umbrella in my cube. The sky was clear and sunny, so I figured I was safe. (Silly me, 12 years of FL and I forget the propensity for random storms out of the blue.) An hour later, torrential downpour. I sucked it up and attempted to run back to my building (because I would get less drenched, of course). But I was wearing heeled sandals that kept slipping off. Thankfully I managed to not fall, but was soaked from head to toe. That was fun. I spent most of the remainder of the afternoon smelling like a wet dog.
I have some amendments to my previous list of things I've learned:
Things I've Learned Since the Move
- My life fits in a van and two cars.
- I have a TON of: clothes, magnets, bath products, frames, and candles.
- You can buy a casket and urns (for pets too) at Costco.
- You don't have to go far out of Miami to find a community filled with friendly people.
- You don't need to know what you want to be when you grow up to find a new job.
- Working for an office supply company doesn't mean that your supply cabinet is well stocked.
- Shoes with a strapped heel cause blisters.
- Umbrellas must be carried with me on all visits to other buildings in the office campus.
