Last time I produced a resin kit for Wonderfest was back in 2009 which was the
head of the giant 7 ft dragon that's now in my living room. I'm hoping that by Wonderfest next year, I'll have another kit ready to go.
Back in the 90s, I got my hands on Ral Partha's
miniature of Easley's
painting. Something was missing about the mini. Certain details just didn't look right. I'm guessing the sculptor, Dave Summers, had to take some liberties as one can only pack in so much detail in a small piece. While I still think what Ral Partha produced is a fantastic rendition, over time I've been telling myself I'd produce one of my own. That time is now:
Very rough sculpt at the moment. Fortunate enough to have access the original source material which should **HOPEFULLY** allow a much better interpretation for a 3D piece. This time, I'm starting small with a maquette. Not going giant sized all at once. That's asking for trouble, as I learned the hard way.
Plan for the short term is an upper body maquette. If all goes well, I'll have a finished piece ready for Señor Easley's 60th birthday and follow up with another life sized piece or some sort of silicone sculpt. This also will most likely be my 2014 sculpt I bring to local con art shows.
