The History Grad Student Association at my university was planning a group trip on Saturday evening to watch 12 Years a Slave since this weekend is the wide release. Unfortunately we just found out that none of the theaters in town are planning to show it. There's a theater 25 miles away that will have a couple of showings on Friday but none on Saturday and a group already has plans to go see Ender's Game on Friday so we can switch to then. The closest theaters showing 12 Years a Slave on Saturday are around 40 miles away and no one wants to put in that drive. They're going to wait to see if it comes to a local theater next weekend. I'm really disappointed. I desperately want to see this movie and I don't understand why the local theaters aren't playing it. I'd be willing to drive 40 miles each way to see it, but I don't really want to go by myself and, while I'm willing to do it, I'm not sure I should drive that far with my toe. I've been driving my car fine and I only need that foot for the clutch, but if I get stuck in stop-and-go traffic for a long time, I think it could become a problem.
