Rachael's Week in BBC Radio Vol. 40

Oct 27, 2013 07:55

Toe still broken so nothing from me for listening this week. The toe is getting better, though. I might be able to start taking short walks on flat surfaces (definitely not running in the woods) next week!

There's really very little for me airing this week, too. Everything new starting that I'd really want is stuff I've already got (e.g. the original War of the Worlds broadcast and the Clive Merrison Sherlock Holmes adaptations). There are a bunch of readings of horror stories but neither readings nor horror really appeal to me.

Downloading 27 October to 2 November:
One-Shots
Tony Mulholland - Aesop's Astronauts A radio play imagining the continued existence of the animals sent into space in the early days of the space race.
The Outsider, by Albert Camus (Drama on 3) This is actually next Sunday's Drama on 3, not this Sunday's. I usually try not to go that extra day out, but I didn't want to forget this one because of the next one. anyway, this is an adaptation of Camus's novel that I've more often seen translated into English under the title The Stranger.
The Insider (The Wire) This Wire play is earlier in the week and the reason I wanted to make sure to get The Outsider. This one is basically retelling he story from the point of view of a couple of Arabic characters who went unnamed in the original and were more objects than subjects.
Daily Multi-Episode Programs
Charles Dickens - Little Dorrit Dickens dramatization. The big draw here, other than I love Dickens, is that Ian McKellen is Dickens / the narrator.
Weekly Multi-Episode Programs Starting this Week
Beatrice Hitchman - Petite Mort Dramatization of a mystery novel about an old silent film, all footage of which was long thought destroyed, being the key to solving a murder. This is the 15-minute drama the next two weeks or you can get it as an omnibus (what I do) on Saturdays.
Comedy Panel Shows
The Museum of Curiosity is in the midst of a new series.
Unbelievable Truth, It's Your Round, and Dilemma are all running random repeats.
Anything good y'all listened to recently or looking forward to next week?
