We're done with morning rehearsals for Master Class. From now on, our days start after 12, and today was our first rehearsal on the stage. OMG--the set is beautiful!! It's very simplistic, but still highly detailed. It looks like a minimalist recreation of Carnegie Hall, in a way. They built a proscenium arch at the edge of the stage, and have hung crown moulding around behind it. It totally resembles the view of Carnegie Hall! Plus, for the scenes when Maria (Callas...if you don't know the story of Master Class--she's leading a master class at Juilliard) is having flashbacks, we have a hand-painted recreation of the La Scala scene from the cover of so many of our opera scores! lol It looks so good, and my cast is SO talented! If it were possible for everyone who reads this to come, I would be in so much heaven. :-P
In other worlds, I'm waiting to hear back from my mother's now-former school. I applied and interviewed for her job (she retired this year), and now I'm playing the waiting game. The principal (who knows me and has seen me teach...as has everyone else involved with hiring) told me that he still had a bunch of classroom teachers and assistants he needed to hire, and (which didn't surprise me) that he'd be focused on getting those positions filled first. I'm hoping to hear in the next week. Ooooh, I really hope!!! :-D
That's the latest from Charlottesville. What's going on in your world, folks??
:-)
