So, in preparation for having to provide my own health insurance, I stepped onto the scale for the first time in ... well, it's been a while. And oof: 10 pounds higher than anticipated. I've been feeling vaguely like I ought to do a better job of balancing food & exercise for a while now, but that number on the scale was the kick in the pants I needed to take it seriously.

The nice thing about the calorie counting app I'm using is that it tracks exercise as well, so I can eat basically as much as I want, as long as I increase my physical activity accordingly. And I'm not being hardcore about it--lots of guesstimating food portions, etc. 140 is my goal for next year, but if I only make it to 165, I'll still be pretty happy.
