My recap is officially longer than the weekend itself.

As immutable as the Triple F Law (FINALLY FUCKING FRIDAY) is to our lives as office-whores, I think the Monday Suck Rule is probably even more unchallengeable, wouldn't y'all agree? Mondays are always bizzy bizzy and tiresome and craptastic and, you know, mondayne. Har.

Well, this one is no exception. As usual, working my ass off here, yadda yadda. Nothing new. But! I did have a pretty Solid Gold Weekend. How about you, boys and girls?

It wasn't so much a weekend as one reeeeeealllly long day followed by one reeeeallly short day. On Saturday I dragged myself out of bed at absurd o'clock to take my dear mother to the airport - because, despite the fact that you might all think I am only the kind of daughter who mocks her mother on the world wide intarwebz to complete strangers, creates games with which to tease her in her senility, drops bombshells like "Oh yeah! By the way, mom and dad, I am polyamorous. And I have a girlfriend. And a boyfriend. And another boyfriend. And an estranged husband." on her poor head, and lets her mom pick up the check 8 at dinner times out of 10 - I am also the kind of daughter who is Nice. So there.

After dropping her off, I headed to O-town to hang out at Disney World for a few hours before my much-anticipated Apples in Stereo show started in Tampa (yes, I drove an extra two hours to avoid driving an extra two hours, I know.). I didn't realize it until I got there that it was the weekend of the International Food and Wine Festival, which is soooo tailor-made just for food nerds like me (well, and yuppies... lots of yuppies).

Assuming you have lots of cash to blow. Which I didn't, of course. But I still had some tasty tidbits from around the world, rode a few rides, got poured on about eleventy billion times, walked around in a semi-stoned daze and enjoyed being back at the Most Magical Place in Orlando after what has seemed like ages of amusementlessness. Is it weird that I don't mind doing shit like going to Disney World alone??

weedfairy seemed to think it probably was. She and I met up for a beer and, well, the obvious (heh), at Downtown Disney. And she is awesome. And one of those people you feel like you've known a long time immediately. Coolness. Love that!

I was already pretty wiped by the time I got back to Tampa for the Apples. I even considered just going home, so without steam was I. THANK THE PINK UNICORN I DID NOT. You see, I have a mental trick I must use to get myself re-fired up for things like awesome concerts when I am so not in the mood for them. I call it the Social Distortion Factor. Simply because I will regret, to my dying day, the one time that I had a chance to see Social D and got there, tickets in hand, decided I was too tired and not in the mood and scalped 'em. STUPID STUPID STUPID. I will probably never have a chance to see them live now. Le sigh.

Anyway, that is all to say that the Apples in Stereo kicked massive quantities of ass. The club was approximately the size of a postage stamp, which I love, they played a bunch of my favorite songs, I got to stand about 6 inches from the stage, chat up two of the band members afterward (the sessiest two, I might point out... yum), steal a set list and generally have an awesome time despite my exhaustion. I got home at about 4am. And slept until about 4pm the next day. Ha!

Which led to me doing absolutely fuck-all on Sunday. I didn't even put clothes on. Or leave the house. Or leave the bed. Pretty much all day. It was rare and very delicious. I woke up eventually when the Husband called to say hello.

In sum: not at all productive, useful or efficient and also not lacking in good times. The way weekends should be. And how about y'all? I will catch up on your mondaynities asap!

music, peeps, monday, happy
