Once again, I'm kicking myself for not reading this sooner. What a delight to read.

Of all the random things in ADWD that made me tilt my head and go, "Huh?" dyslexic!Jaime was right there at the top of the list, LOL. But I love how you brought that in here, and used it to show some insecurity he has with regard to Tyrion, even feeling a little intimidated by his little brother's brains. I love their relationship, how they both are really impressed with each other, they're such good brothers and more than anything I want these two to reconcile and give each other brotherly hugs.

What I also love here is that hint of how wise Tyrion is to Jaime and Cersei's weirdness, that he is not, in fact, trying to stop Jaime from breaking his back, but from breaking his heart. It's unfortunate he won't succeed in the long run in keeping them apart...

Well done, Lauren!

Thank you so much! You know, dyslexic!Jaime actually made sense to me when I read it in canon. I think that was probably a big reason that he ended up being a fighter instead of more of a statesman like his dad. You'd think Tywin would've groomed Jaime to be a Mini Me, right? But he fell short academically, so what else could he or Jaime do? And of course Jaime diverges from his dad more and more, probably to carve out whatever niche he feels he can, given that disability (which seems rather mild by the time he's reading the White Book, so he's either improved or it was never that severe to begin with ( ... )

I see no signs of writer rust whatsoever. ;)

Instead I see astute and convincing characterization of all concerned; I can hear the harshness of Tywin's Unlike animals, we think in words, therefore language is thought, and how much does his long shadow hang over his three children here? I love how they're showing signs here of the areas in which they'll later excel: Tyrion with his learning and those dragon dreams of power, Jaime with his soldier's brain and brawn, and Cersei with her dazzling beauty and cruel cunning. And the image of six year old Tyrion smacking Jaime with that enormous book, in an effort to make him wake up and see a few things, is such a great one ( ... )
