I'm beyond happy to be able to share my efforts for this fic. I fell in love with it from the start, having my own love of the incredible poetry of the soldiers of World War I and coming of age tales set in the period. akadougal created a fantastic story and I was glad to have been able to work with her in creating my images.

A Thread of Smoke Arising on the Sea by akadougal
Sent to an English boarding school while his mother tours Europe with his sister, Jensen has to deal not only with the different culture but with his new friendship with the school head boy, Jared. Their comfortable world is destroyed by a war that is supposed to end all wars, where Jensen finds that his time at school is more useful than he might imagine and where his friendship with Jared becomes more than he could ever have dreamed of.
