This year was my first time signing up for the spn_j2_bigbang, and I went big and signed up to do graphics for two pieces! The piece I'm posting today grabbed me with the summary when it came time for claiming. nimueailinen has been great to work with and really wrote a good piece to draw inspiration from. Thanks so much for being awesome!

A giant thanks to wook77 for being the rockingest beta and best braintwin a gal could ask for!

Reason, Free From Passion by nimueailinen
Four years ago, Dean Winchester began searching for a way to prosecute the hyper-religious Soldiers of God cult. It's always seemed like a lost cause, until the day a former cult member appears in the hospital and changes everything. Castiel Novak has been beaten half to death, and Dean's positive the Soldiers of God are responsible. He's finally got the witness he needs to bring down the Soldiers of God, but there's just one problem - Castiel can't remember what happened to him.

And once he does remember, Dean's problems are far from over. Castiel's unwilling to testify against his former family, he's hiding secrets of his own... and worst of all, as Dean tries to convince Castiel to put his agressor behind bars, he begins to realize he's falling for the man. But Castiel is the key witness in the trial of Dean's career, a trial that will pit them against probing reporters, conniving attorneys and a man willing to murder his own son for the sake of his faith, and Dean can't risk losing his testimony - not even if it means losing him.
