[It's enough-the question makes Poniko pause. Right here, she thinks, this girl is her enemy. She has intruded into her territory, she has to get her out. But...but she's a Puella Magi too. Really, she hasn't seen more than fleeting glimpses of other Magi, she's barely done more than felt the presence of their soul gems, and the way this other girl is bumbling around and being hit so easily, it...
Well, it reminds Poniko of herself.]
...I wished f-
[Before she can finish the statement, though, the girl has lunged and caught the older Magi off-guard. It doesn't take much for the lantern to fall and roll across the ground, further away from her.] You little-! [And she could just as easily summon another one, but as long as that lantern is still there it's still using up her magic, and having two of them out at once? That's asking for trouble, and it's not like she can get rid of it without it being closer to her. As hard as she can, she rams her elbow into the other girl in an attempt to stop her just long enough so that she can dive for her weapon.]
[ The strike to her stomach nearly winds her and she gasps, staggering back. But when the other Puella Magi lunges for the weapon. She throws her hands out, summoning the rest of her knives before throwing several forward. The blades catch the hanging material of Poniko's sleeves and jerk her hand back, pinning it to the wall. Madotsuki rubs her stomach, panting hard for breath. ]
I don't want to fight you! I came here because -- there are no witches left in my territory, okay? I don't want to die!

[Fuck! She's caught, pinned against the wall by her sleeves (whose stupid idea were these, again? Did no one give any thought to practicality here?) and she tries to wrench her arms free but she's stuck.
But...but the girl doesn't want to hurt her. Even before she shouts, the girl seems more worried about her own safety than even trying to touch Poniko again.
And she's so damned innocent.]
...None of us do, I guess. [She sounds almost defeated as she says it and even slumps a bit in place.] What...what's your name, kid?
[ Madotsuki hesitates, wondering briefly if her opponent is trying the same tactic she had earlier. It wouldn't be the first time that she's been outwitted by other Puella Magi but what has she got to lose? ]
M--Madotsuki. [ She relaxes a little, standing up properly rather than her ready-to-attack stance. ] What about you?
Poniko. [There's really no room for a "nice to meet you" here, is there?]
You...you go to the local public school, don't you? Mitakihara High. [This girl might be one of the middle schoolers in the jointed building, though; she isn't sure. Small talk with a girl you were just trying to beat the shit out of while being pinned to a wall by her knives? No big deal, no big deal.]
Um-- yes, I go to Mitakihara High. I'm a first year. [ This entire conversation is rather surreal and Madotsuki can't help but wonder if this is just another dream. She'll pinch herself later; right now she's more curious about Poniko. She's never actually spoken to another Puella Magi outside of being told to get out of her own territory. ]
Uh-huh. [She pauses for a moment.] Gotta say, kid, you've got talent, being able to one-up an upperclassman like this. [There's a definite playfulness to her tone, though. Really, Poniko's well aware that she could summon another lantern and get herself out of this without much of a hassle, but...nah.] How long have you been a Magi, then?
Well, it reminds Poniko of herself.]
