Finally Got a Job!

I FINALLY GOT A JOB! Yay! Julia's parents told me that the Federal Way Symphony was looking for someone to be an administrative assistant of some kind and the next day I got the job. Whoo-hoo! It was quite nice to be told that I had the best qualifications out of 3 other people interviewed. It's only part-time, but I'll actually get to do some writing, which is nice. Plus, I attend all the concerts, which is freaking awesome considering that seats for the pops concerts are $75 a piece. I don't have any benefits, so I'll need to find another job in the area, but I'm pretty happy right now. $1200 a month is enough to pay rent and live on for the moment, so I'll just keep an eye out for something.

It was kind of weird walking talking with people at the office because I think I have a lot of unknown connections to them. My boss is a former mayor, which I think I have a picture from the newspaper from when I was in fourth grade with her. I think my brother must have swam with her son too and its possible that I played soccer with her daughter. Plus, I met a member of the board who says that I look really familiar, but she can't quite place me. In any case, I have a good feeling about this and this should actually be fun. Plus money will give me greater leverage with my mom in getting either a dog or another cat.

In other news, I've actually rediscovered the joy of reading. I think college really killed my joy of reading. Unless I really, really wanted to read something, I rarely read for fun. And when I did, it was fairly disastrous because I wouldn't do anything, but read for about 10 hours and completely ignore anything else I had to do. Not that I'm not doing that now-I've always been a whirlwind reader, but now I can actually read books withought worrying about the angle I'm going to spin in my literary analysis paper, which is nice. I get to finally read all the books I always wanted to read in college, but dared not to. After all, who really wants to sit there and write a 20 page paper on John Milton's Paradise Lost anyway? Not me, that's for sure. And I don't have to buy books anymore-thank god for the library.
