Surprised it took that long

Well, I finally lost an entire scene to the change of POV. Can't recover this one, either, really. So here, you have it.

:D

"Seems like a long way to walk for a couple of nuts, a bag of blue near-potatoes, and some garlic," Jack complained. The nut grove and patch of wild-growing potatoes was all the way on the other side of the island.

"It is never too far to walk for garlic," Daniel opined. "Besides, the white fish we've been catching will be a lot better with a nut and peppercorn crust."

They all caught the scent in the air on the same tendril of breeze.

"Dad!" Sam smiled. In spite of the load of gathered veggies and nuts she was carrying, she set off at a long-legged lope down the overgrown road. Teal'c had finally tracked him down.

"Jacob," Jack said to Daniel, feeling slightly apprehensive.

"Selmak," Daniel replied optimistically.

"Yeah, still. I think I'm going to hear about the pension all over again," Jack said. "Do you think we should stop at the house and pull the mattresses apart?"

Daniel snorted. Then made a reconsidering noise.

"Maybe," he agreed. They made a detour on the way down to the gate.
