comics review: week 10/3/10

Mar 13, 2010 20:46

This has been a good week in wich I've had much fun. Writers have decided to give the readers what most of us where expenting since... well... a year, really. When Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown parted in not a very nice manner.

But this moth we've had a mini cross-over event full of kicking ass, good dialog, a bit of angst and sexual tension and, sometimes, good art (mostly from Red Robin's part).

The event starts it Batgirl 8. The writer there is good and knows his girl so we could expect some self respect on Steph's side. But.. what to expect on Tim's?
We start it all with tense banter and some dickery on both sides. Tim is still angry at her for lying to him and she is a bit fed up with his "you are not suited for this job" attitude. But they have to work toghether for the sake of an old friend and noone else is at hand. Also, Ras As Ghul has taken over all comunications, so they really only have one another to rely on.

yes. Aaawckward.

But the moment they begin kicking ninja ass:

Well, some couples have a song, others have a corner on a restaurant... Tim and Steph have "Their ninja fighting".

After the fight Tim admits he was wrong and is proud of her and they are about to decide if they make out or not (well, ok, not exactly, but...) when one of Ras's assassins shows up.

We jump the to Red Robin 10, with a very angry Ras as Ghul, the Head of the Devil, giving a bunch of ninja the order to kill Tim Drake, and kill him now.

we go back to the roof with Steph and Tim and Pru, the assassin whose life Tim saved once. Prudence says she is there to kill Batgirl and ppoints her with a gun. Tim goes all "it's my fault she is going to die again and this time it's not going to be a fake and it's my fault and bla bla bla" when:

His face there is pricesless. Also, poor Pru always gets hit on the nose XD

Pru admits that she wasn't going to really kill her because she wants to help Tim like he helped her. Steph then does what someone shoudl ahve done some issues ago: she tells him how worried where they all while he went all nuts working with the league of assassins through Europe. He just admits the truth in that and ask for her help. He is trying to come with a plan

when they are ambushed by some assasins and we'll have to wait till next moth to see how they kick their ass.
Also, while all this was happening Vicky Vale is looking for Tim drake for a yet unknown reason and that allows us to have one of those brilliant Alfred moments:

They seem to be finally recovering the dork boy wonder we liked and adored and I just wish they would keep Yost for a bit longer. Well, at least Nicieza is a good writer too adn he seems to like the character. Also, I know that the art in Batgirl was awful this month, but, man, how I like Marcus To

On the other hand, I'm quite angry at Morrison and his Batman and Robin 10. Now turns out that everybody in the League belived Bruce to be lost in time just like Tim did? That and the way of making Dick find all the clues makes the last year of Red Robin kind of useless. It makes me really angry the way that man just doesn't give a damn about what other writters are doing.
Aside frm that, the issue is really good and the art is amazing. Anyone reading only that title will enoy it madly.
