So, I used my comics shop gift certificate for Batman #700, Superman #700, and Wonder Woman #600. I haven't read Wondy yet, but I did read about the 'new direction'. Yeesh!
Um.. I like the new WW belt. And... that's it. Big WTF on the new mind-screw retcon, but I'm still pissed about them writing Steve Trevor out as a love interest. I love that the article mentions Diana's only other makeover from the 60s and says "the less said about that, the better."
I have a feeling this will be another of those types of footnotes and the revamp will be short-lived. Because it's FUGLY.
And Superman... argh. I want to get that issue, but I really hate when they do stories where someone is like "where was Superman when so and so died?" because he can't be everywhere at once, people! He can do amazing things, but it will never solve everyone's problems all the time.
I think Lois and Clark got that right in the Ultrawoman episode because, as silly as the concept was, it was great having Lois realize how heartbreaking it is to have all those abilities and not be able to save everyone. But I also think it's a storyline that's been done and I don't think the fact that he can't save everyone should trigger something as stupid as a walking tour of the US. *sigh*

Retconning Steve out would be like doing the same with Lois for Clark.

What a dismal period that was! To me, she wasn't Wonder Woman anymore, just a Diana Rigg wannabe.

I love the concept of Clark growing up here. Not so for Diana! Part of her uniqueness was growing up on Paradise Island! And her relationship with Hippolyta was as important as Clark's with Jonathan and Martha, or Bruce with Alfred.

I recommend it for the first two stories. :)

It was fresh and groundbreaking in the '70s with Green Arrow and Green Lantern. Now it's been there, done that.
