So, I used my comics shop gift certificate for Batman #700, Superman #700, and Wonder Woman #600. I haven't read Wondy yet, but I did read about the 'new direction'. Yeesh!

Please, PLEASE WRITE A FIC EXTOLLING THE GLORIES OF HER OLD COSTUME.

T.T You could have Steve doing the extolling and we'd all be happy.

It's kinda underwhelming, isn't it?

I don't even know what it's doing. I mean, it just doesn't really make any sense for her character... =(

Yay for plot bunnies. I would do it, but I have like 8,000,000 things I need to finish first. ^^;

And yeah, I imagine some people will like it. I think it's a perfect costume for Cassie Sandsmark as Wonder Woman, but it doesn't fit for Diana.

Superman #700 sounds really cute, the story with Dick I mean. And yeah, I'm not thrilled with Damian as Batman either. I actually kind of was sad when someone mentioned that Damian would likely be Terry McGinnis' mentor instead of Bruce.

I always thought that her coming to America as an observer was cool. I love Clark growing up here, but Diana learning about us after growing up on Paradise Island gave her a different view. Now...

So do I, but you know? Someone's gotta extoll the ol' virtues! ;) I've already got some ideas.

Retconning Steve out would be like doing the same with Lois for Clark.

What a dismal period that was! To me, she wasn't Wonder Woman anymore, just a Diana Rigg wannabe.

I have a feeling this will be another of those types of footnotes and the revamp will be short-lived. Because it's FUGLY.

I love the concept of Clark growing up here. Not so for Diana! Part of her uniqueness was growing up on Paradise Island! And her relationship with Hippolyta was as important as Clark's with Jonathan and Martha, or Bruce with Alfred.

And Superman... argh. I want to get that issue, but I really hate when they do stories where someone is like "where was Superman when so and so died?" because he can't be everywhere at once, people! He can do amazing things, but it ( ... )

Wow... totally unimpressed by the new WW costume... and even less than unimpressed by the new retcon. *sigh* Apparently, female comic fans aren't allowed to have a kick-ass female superhero who can hold her own and NOT have some disastrous past that screws with her brain.

They are always messing with Diana's memories! She has been retconned so much I'm surprised she even knows her name anymore.

As for Batman, I was very happy to see the Robin/Superman storyline, I thought it was great! And yes, the art in that story easily and clearly illustrates just how pretty Dick will be when he grows up. Bruce better keep a close watch!

Bruce will have to definitely keep a Bat-eye on his protege!

And Superman/Robin stories are simply made of win every time! :)

...What fresh hell is this? Why is Diana being* PANTS?!?! I'm not a big fan of her modern costume, but my idea of "revising" it is putting her in a Greek battle outfit that has white stars on the bottom.

I hope this storyline dies a swift death. ( Seriously, WTF?! )

*This is a typo for "wearing" but the "being" part totally fits as well.

The article I read calls the new costume and direction an alternate universe. Even if that's not correct, I can't see this change sticking 100%. Remember when they changed Batman's costume so he didn't have the blue/black shorts over his tights? That didn't last long. And Blue Superman? Where is he now?

I would have re-done the costume without changing it that much. Put her in the hoplite gear that we see every so often. Or just put the straps on the top and give her spandex shorts like her costume from the 50s. (Can I tell you how tired I am of artists drawing her with her top just about to flash nips and her ass hanging out?) But yeah, I agree that the changes I'm seeing are too drastic.

It's amazing how DC likes to take its iconic symbols and change them.

Isn't Diana's costume iconic and shouldn't it be just a minor alteration? Not some biker chick design? Your suggestions work well, my dear. :)
