Exactly! It's like if Clark had told Lex, Lex would have poured all his considerable energy into protecting Clark and his secret. So I wrote it. :)

I'm sorry but no one can be sure of that. He investigated Clark from the very beginning and has confessed to have always been jealous and envious of him. Clark didn't make Lex what he is, this has been Lex's choice. Lex was an adult when he met Clark, he was perfectly able to decide what to do with hiw own life.

I'm all for playing with the idea of a good Lex in fics, but on the show, his turn to the dark side is Lex's choice and his alone. Of course he's always going to blame everyone around him, but the truth is that Lex had already showed his true self before meeting Clark, like in "Reunion".

There's no proof that Lex's knowing Clark's secret would have made him a better person and it would have probably endangered Clark. Of course we can play with a different idea in fics. I for one enjoy happy Clex!

Oh, yes! Now I think it can be seen two ways: if Clark had told Lex, Lex would have as I wrote, become Clark's champion and protected him *while* they were having a relationship. But of course Clark had the right to keep his secret, too. Not a good idea to go blabbing it around willy-nilly! But the way I see it is that there were certainly What-ifs there: Clark took a big chance (in my fic) in telling Lex his secret, but by then Lex was already in love with him, and I think that would have made the difference. But of course it could have turned out very badly, and that may be a fic yet to be written. :)

Ah, Clark and his billionaire boyfriends! I rather like the way Lex's jealousy with Bruce plays out here. And I really like the line the title comes from, contrasting their tastes so nicely.

Okay, it was mouth-to-mouth, but I still came to with him on top of me.

Oh dear, does it reveal something about me that the first time I read that line my brain left out the "to"? *grins*

Thank you for reading, Jen! Yep, you know with Clark, he's gotten quite comfy with the billionaire boyfriends, but he's still a country boy at heart. :)

Well, actually, who knows if Lexie left out the 'to' also? ;) It's a great scene in the Pilot!

And it reveals you slashy soul. *loves you for it*

I agree with merfilly that Clark bears some small responsibility. Who allows their best friend to get fried to protect themselves? That, in particular drove me away from the series (never mind the lack of continuity and respect for comic canon, inability to maintain characterization, etc). Investigating is one thing; allowing another person to come to harm through inaction is quite another. I felt the unimpeachable Superman from my youth lost some of his luster when SV ptb chose to follow this particular path.

That said, stories w/ Lex and Clark emphasizing a shared trust are like balm to my soul. The reveal and Lex's reaction were very sweet. I love Lex's jealousy and undercover skulking about. It's so very Lex.

Ah, SV! Don't get me started! ;)

I'm always curious as to how that would have played out, Clark telling Lex. It could have been a disaster, but the Lex we saw in the early seasons suggests to me that he would have been the fiercest protector of the Secret evah! :)

And I just figured Lex had some Luthor in him and couldn't resist gathering info on Bruce for future blackmail purposes if necessary, like if he got too close to Clark. ;)

ahh, I am glad, you were posting about your first story again, so cute!

and, well, I agree with carol on the things, that that its not a certainty that lex would protect clark.
just a very high possibilty.

though I totally disagree with her saying that at 21 lex is an adult. that is very ridiculous . There are so many kids of billionaires in RL running around, or those that have money themselves like paris hilton , or britney or whatever.
(ok, unfair comparison, but you get the gist...).
none of them acts even like adults.

constantly spending time with buff, gorgeous superheroes
haha i love lex jealousy so much, its so lex-alike to spy on bats and the others!

What a great icon! :)

Thank you, Ender! :)

The Classic Fic of the Month helps remind us of what we've written and read. :)

I've always felt that it's almost a 50/50 shot. The Lex we saw in Seasons 1-3 would act like I've written him here, I'd say, but who's to say he wouldn't have started manipulating for power and got his love all twisted up? He certainly didn't have the best role models as to love, did he?

No matter what, Clark would be taking a big risk, and I can't fault him for not doing this, but if he did, it could have turned out well. That's what fanfic's for. ;)

that icon really is a hit !
I got so many comments on it :D

and i otally agree on the role models. Though those are always an explanation, never an excuse not even for lex *g*

though, with my examples, I might not be exactly expressing what I meant: I am just saying, societies nowadays are more and more infantilized , and 21 ?! at least, in europe means nothing ( ok, sure in US most of you from what I have read are finished with university and have family at 21/22 but in germany?? the average for marrying is like 28/29 . You do not finish university earliest at 25.
I don't understand how one expect lex to be the adult and cutting clark slack because he is 16 *g*.

Back in the 1950s the average age for women to marry was around 19, men a little older. Now people here get married in their late twenties/early thirties very often.

People here call under-18s 'kids' even if they're 16 or 17. And people in their early 20s are still considered immature, so Lex at 21 would fit. :)
