I'm not really sure how to easily describe this weekend aside from simply explaining what I was doing.
I hung out with Fiona for the first time in over three years. To say that I wasn't nervous or curious as to whether she was much different than when she was going to ASU would be a total lie.
I'm starting to chew gum every so often when I get nervous. Now I know why people, including her, are smokers.
I met up with Fiona at a small apartment complex just South of the U of A campus, and then went out for some dinner with she and her friend. To my pleasant surprise, she had hardly changed one bit. Quite frankly, I was a little bit weirded out/scared by an online chat that she and I had a few nights before that. She was somewhat verbosely going on about some details regarding her class(es) in midevil music. While initially interesting, I became lost when she started using many terms that only a specific type of music major would know about. No matter - It seems she was merely in a mood to talk about that stuff.
We ate dinner at Claim Jumper. Think Black Angus, but with slightly bigger portions, nicer atmosphere, quite possibly a bigger line, a small mine cart out front, and a bigger bar - All of which I got to experiece while waiting at the bar to later be served a delicious and enormous meal (Parmesean Chicken), but only one glass of water. I will tip 20% to any server who fills up my water promptly whenever it is two thirds empty. I didn't have that luxury, so I wasn't about to give one to the server.
Back at her place, we watched some TV, played Katamari, then SSX 3. It was as if nothing had changed in three years, which was a good thing. Fiona was still the intellectual, laid back, and reasonably entertaining woman that I had gotten to know in the Computing Sites.
At midnight, I learned how poorly streets are labeled in Tucson by heading over to David's place. His two bedroom digs were very much like Cholla, but with newer kitchen appliances and a bigger patio. Since his roommates were asleep, we didn't do much other than play video games for a bit, then I crashed on their futon.
The next day, David and I tried out Frag - A board game equivalent of a first person shooter. It was okay for two people, but I'm sure it would be much better with more. Once one of his roommates, Chase, got home, we all went out to eat at KFC. I really enjoyed their food because I hadn't ate there in so long, with the exception of one item. Chase thought it was silly for me to get a Mac & Cheese side dish, but I got it anyways. Little did I know how the taste had changed from cheezy to some other substance that wasn't even up to par with Kraft - Definately the biggest fast food let down I had experienced in quite some time.
I'll write about the remainder of my trip in another entry. Until then, I leave you with a survey result from OKCupid:
Brainy Student
61% Tastefulness, 46% Originality, 40% Deliberateness, 38% Sexiness
[Tasteful Original Random Prissy]
Your style is classic but not glamorous. You don't concentrate on clothes an awful lot, preferring to spend your time on more interesting matters. You don't want to look like everyone else and your probably take care to have a unique element or two in your outfits, just to emphasize your personality, but, on the other hand, you don't need too much attention paid to your looks. Believe it or not, fashion says some things about character. You're probably quite an intellectual and somewhat reserved. But your style is not bad.
The opposite style from yours is Sex Bomb [Flamboyant Conventional Deliberate Sexy].
