My game night last Saturday had a life of its own, although I suppose having bought four 6 packs of drinks and cooked several batches of tacquitos and chicken nuggets, I should expect nothing less from a dozen party people.
"Wow, it's like a koala bear crapped a rainbow in my brain!"
Katamari Damacy has not only captivated myself, but also many people who came to the party, wanting to play or watch it in the beginning. Aside from a classic remark by Captain Murphy, the game's joy and sillyness is best summed up by
this video. We started off by playing Betrayal at House on the Hill. We ended up discovering a lot of rooms before the haunt started. From there, it turned into an anti-climactic horror film, in which Brandy's character was the rat lady, summoned rats on all of us, while trying to get to the Pentagram room in order to cast an evil spell of some sort, but Seth saved the day by mercilessly unloading a revolver into her. Thankfully in this case, playing the game was more fun than the story that played out.
"You seem to have won over my friends' stomachs, if not their hearts."
After that, Jeanne and Joe delivered tasty danishes and played Cranium Turbo with Brandy, her friend Shawn, myself, and Matt (Michelle's roomie). It was a guaranteed hit with the party, although the clay wasn't salvageable, even by our in-house culinary and ceramics expert. Another group played Pirate's Cove. After that, the party was downsized by people who had to get up early the following day, but Amy (Jeanne & Joe's friend) and Kassi stopped by. I was really surprised to see Kassi since she wasn't feeling very well and just got back from another party of sorts, but it was nice to see her. Since most of the remaining guests weren't really up for learning a new game, a few of us started playing the card game Once Upon A Time. Joe and Shawn entertained themselves by putting together all the contraptions for the game Mouse Trap, although they never actually played it.
The next party I wanna host in a month or so is likely gonna be less of a game night and more of a singles party, with free pizza or drinks for the single ladies. I don't know how many people would show up or how it would all go down, but I figure it's worth a shot.
Oh my...
