Bored book reviews

Greetings loyal readers!

I am reading a book at the moment for Public International Law called, predictably, 'Public International Law: Contemporary Principles and Practices' by Gillian D. Triggs. It is a superb book, perhaps the best I've read on the subject. In fact it is the best law book I have ever read. It is also very boring and prompted me to do this retrospective of law books I've read, and give star ratings to which ones are worth the paper they are printed on. All stars are out of five! Now, these books can put my rating on them if they think it is worth it.

STUART'S BOREDOM INSPIRED BOOK REVIEWS
======================================

Heydon and Loughlin, 'Equity and Trusts' (2004): ** [directionless]

Flynn et al, 'The Criminal Codes': ****1/2 [concise and structured] (STUART'S TWO THUMBS UP!)

McKeough et al, 'Intellectual Property in Australia': *** 1/2 [good general textbook] (STUART'S THUMBS UP!)

Douglas et al, 'Administrative Law: Butterworths Q&A series': * 1/2 [appalling]

(Someone I can't remember) 'Contract Law in Australia': *** [too brief in parts]

(Again I can't remember) 'Laying down the Law': ** [good for the part on court heirarchy]

Michael Hunt (yes, I said Michael Hunt!) 'Mining and Energy Law in WA': ** [may as well read the Mining Act 1978]

Arenson and Bagaric, 'Rules of Evidence in Australia': ** [little more than cases and questions that follow cases]

Heydon, 'Cross on Evidence': **** [excellent but far too detailed at 1350 pages] (STUART'S THUMBS UP!)

Hanks, 'Constitutional Law in Australia': *** [rambling at times]

(Someone I can't remember) 'Property Law in Australia': *** 1/2 [good]

Luntz & Hambly 'Tort: Principles and Practices': *** 1/2 [good but again too detailed for a tort course]

Triggs, 'PIL: Principles and Practices': ***** [exceptional. Best book yet on PIL] (STUART'S TWO BIG THUMBS UP!)

(Butterworths) 'Ford's Principles of Corporations Law': **** [detailed but well written] (STUART'S THUMBS UP!)

(Thompson Law Book) 'Family Law in Australia': *** [Again it's one of those case and questions books]

Radan et al, 'Equity and Trusts: Butterworths Tutorial': *** [I met Peter Radan in Canberra!

Ian Brownlie, 'Principles of Public International Law': *** [Sprawling in scope but too brief in its details]

Malcolm Shaw, 'Public International Law': *** 1/2 [Better than Brownlie]

D J Harris, 'Public International Law: Cases and Materials': ** 1/2 [Cases and materials ... it's just that]

Lainer and Henry, 'Criminology': *** 1/2 [good for theories of Criminology] (STUART'S THUMBS UP!)

Canegham, 'Intellectual Property: Butterworths Tutorial Series': * [Inaccurate in some statements of law]
