Kudos, Johnny!

Well, well, well, Johnny grew a backbone.  Watching (still) the Rice Confirmation hearings, I got to see the junior senator from Massachusetts, a Mr. John Kerry, declare that he would not be voting for Dr. Rice for Secretary of State.  Because of her role as "architect" of a failed policy.

Great work, but where were you when we voted on the actual war?  Oh that's right, you were with the other spineless congressional democrats who thought it was politically smart to vote for the Iraq war for the 2002 mid-term elections.  How'd that work out for you?  Since they all (stupidly) voted for it, now the Democrats can't easily attack the Republicans without looking like fools.

Until the Democrats grow a spine and say that Iraq should have never happened and it was a mistake to authorize it, the party will always languish as the weaker "me too" party of the Republicans.  If both Democrats and Republicans think Iraq was right and the only difference is that the Democrats are quibblers, what the hell is the point?  I can't blame the American people for just going for the people who at least appear to be "strong."  Let's just hope that Democrats "grow a set" in the next four years in case anybody starts looking askance in the direction of Iran.

If a (at the time) sophomore in college knew that the Iraq war was going to be a problem, how is that all of the politcal and bureacratic institutions of the federal government couldn't figure it out too?

So, in the preceding (nearly) two years, we've...

spent $150+ billion (with another $100 billion request coming from the Bush White House)
and most importantly...
lost 1,370 military personnel.

Better late than never, Sen. Kerry.
