MAH SUMMAR SO FARRRR (Thursday)

And so continues the epic tale of a Vacation of win.

Thursday rolled around, and Travis and I made our way down to Boston to pick up the badges for the convention. We got into the city almost an hour before pre-registration pick-up time and there was already a line forming outside the building. Luckily the wait wasn't too long since we were near the front. Anything is better than last year's 10-hour ordeal just to get a piece of plastic with my name on it.

We met a couple of cool people in the line near us and bullshitted about what animes were awesome, which were crappy, which ones we started on, and which ones were entirely fucked up. Our section in line was interviewed by an anthropology major who was also attending the convention, which was pretty neat. The guy had some cool questions, but I noticed that he didn't take too many notes. I guess he was interviewing everyone in the line, so that's kind of expected. We got our badges and headed off to lunch with our group of line-buddies.

We ate at Sarku Japan, since they have the cheapest food in the entire convention center, and it's not bad either. The guys we were eating with asked if we were staying in the hotel, we said yeah, and they asked if they could crash with us. We decided that they weren't that cool, but I gave them my number anyway, just to make them feel like we were cool with it. Always more fun to screw up plans for some people.

I got a text a few minutes after that from Amy, who is a mutual friend of Travis and I, and we went off to go meet up with her while she waited in line with Justin. Justin played with pictochat on his DS while we all stood around like goons commenting on how awesome the con would be. Amy and Justin got thier badges and we headed off to do pre-convention nerdy things for a few hours.

We decided that we should get my tattoos done prior to the convention actually starting, since we knew it would take a while (An hour or so we thought). We sat down, and Amy drew the outline on me in pen while I sat, shirtless in a chair in the lobby of the Sheraton hotel. Travis ended up having to gun it home due to plan complications, so it ended up being me, Amy and Justin, until Justin decided to go play Magic with people.

The outline alone took around 45 minutes, and then Amy decided she was cold. Apparently I'm some sort of human furnace, so she leaned on me for bodily warmth. At this point, it was around 11pm, and we started meeting the other night-owls of the pre-con adventures. One or two of them were truly noteworthy. Chris, for example. He was drunk out of his mind, and after stopping by periodically over the SEVEN HOURS Amy spent diligently applying Henna to my back, arms, shoulders, and chest, he decided to draw on himself. It was amusing, but you had to be there to really understand it. Ethan was another cool person. We sat discussing anime and playing with the sweet touchpad table that they had set up in the lobby while the employees heckled me for not wearing a shirt. Fuck them.

After the henna was applied completely, it had gotten to be around 5am. I was offered to crash in Amy's room with her, Justin, and her parents. I graciously accepted, and made my home for the night in their bathtub. It was horribly uncomfortable, but at least I could get a few hours of sleep. Or so I thought.

I was awakened by Amy's father coming back from his morning walk around the con center at around 5:30am. The presence of a random tattooed person in the bathtub scared the ever-living out of him until he realized who I was. I fell back asleep until neck pains woke me at around 6:15am. I collected some towels and finally was able to make a bed comfortable enough to sleep for a little while.

STAY TUNED FOR FRIDAY!
