The future of television

I'll admit it:  I was one of those cynics who disagreed with the notion that people will soon soon watch most of their television on their computers.

From a practical standpoint, it didn't make sense.  I mean, how many people sit on the couch while they surf the Internet?  I imagine most home offices are not set up with television watching in mind.

Well, that might all be changing.

The site is called Hulu.  I reversed my previous opinion after reading Mike Wendland's latest blog on Freep.com and checking out the site for myself.

Yeah, there's only five episodes of "The Simpsons", for example, and a handful of movies, but there is bound to be more content added regularly, since the site is owned by NBC and FOX.  And CBS is expected join soon.

The design is intuitive with the shows and movies readily accessible, and the quality of the content is a plus.

The only downside is a short ad before the show or movie of your choosing, but that's a small price to pay.

With as much time as we spend at our computers, this seems like a logical move.

Maybe it's time to put the couch in the office.
