Actually just so you know, that isn't true about Republicans minding their own business and whatnot. I've been made fun of so much for being Democrat and voting for Kerry that it's incredibly ridiculous but the funny part is that I'm much more knowledgeable about the whole thing than the people who are making fun of me are and can argue them into the ground when they start with me (at which point they start making fun of Kerry). And honestly, I think there are just as many people voting for Bush because somebody told them to as are voting for Kerry because somebody told them to.
well i suppose it's fair to say that i'm don't have any exposure to people like that. i don't talk to anyone at work, and the only social gatherings i go to are shows.
that is really shitty that people are like that to you.
Eh, I'm used to it by now. Plus one of the people I work with actually is delusional enough to think that the Holocaust is propaganda for the Jews and that in actuality like 2,000 people only died (and that's about as close to a quote from him as you'll get). As a side note, he's voting for Bush.
"nofx told me that bush is an idiot, so i bought 25 anti-bush t-shirts. kerry sucks too, but i'll vote for him because he's not bush. is the next band on? i hope they say something about the election, i'll clap."
it seems that the general mentality of a kid who goes to shows, is more or less: "nofx told me that bush is an idiot, so i bought 25 anti-bush t-shirts. kerry sucks too, but i'll vote for him because he's not bush. is the next band on? i hope they say something about the election, i'll clap."
i wholeheartedly agree with what you said. that is the thing that pissed me off most at warped tour: these 13-year-old kids wearing "not my president" shirts when they're neither old, nor informed enough to make, what in my opinion is, an educated decision. the same goes for the people that are old enough, but just ramble on about whatever candidate while accomplishing no basis for opinion. maybe i'm overly political for a just-turned-19-year-old, but i was raised in a very politcal household. i've paid attention these last four years, i consider myself to be pretty well-informed. and i don't like the direction that this country is going. and not because fat mike said so, but because i have reasons to feel the way that i do. because i read the

I love jess. I can always count on her for extremely long indepth entries/comments that always keep me on the edge on my seat. She LOVES fun...and livejournal. <3
I am so sick of scene kids jumping on this bangwagon of hating Bush just because some very good bands combined to do a cd together saying so. I feel even I am not educated enough to make a descision. this is why I am undecided and will probably not be voting. once this girl, she was maybe my age, she said she was voting kerry to end the "stupid war." I was like.. uhhhh the war isn't ending, and kerry's sending more troops anyway. and she was suprised.
so it's cool to hear lots of votes being cast without being fully aware or educated on what anyone's issues are about. I think this election is the saddest thing I've witnessed.
I'm 15. I'm Jewish. My family voted for Al Gore in 2000. In 2000, I was always cracking that joke "you take an asshole out of Texas and we will all be unemployed tomorrow". I've become more educated going to a "liberal" school. Many people here just hate Bush because he's a republican. Jewish people are brought up to never ever ever ever ever... vote Republican.... many of my family members who are old enough to vote are voting for Bush. Yes, I'm pro-gay marriage. Yes, I'm pro-choice (to some extent). Yes, I was pro-war.
I don't give two shits who you vote for. If you want to sit down and have a discussion about politics, I'm all up for it! But, that's only if it's calm, and we both listen to each other. I also recommend you go to DanielPipes.org. It's very interesting.
i think all that she was saying is that it's very uncommon. my family is jewish and all of us voted for kerry. usually, this is how it goes. but whatever, breaking down stereotypes is cool too.
