No running this morning, but the possibility of a ride around the Backbay this afternoon.
My visit to the doctor resulted in a confirmation of my original diagnosis: allergies. I filled my prescription for Flonase and a twice daily inhaler and started them last night. I also took a 12-hour cough suppressant before bed for a little extra help. The results have been impressive. I didn't wake up coughing at all! Today I have only had the urge to cough a couple of times, and those lasted only 2-3 coughs. I'll keep taking the medicine to make sure I get through the rest of my allergy season - basically all of summer - and then see how I do as fall sets in (hopefully in NJ!)
Speaking of job stuff, I got another rejection this morning via e-mail. Piedmont Virginia Community College has completed their hiring process and filled that position, so I can cross them off my list. I suspect that the next two weeks will involve more action regarding my applications. Why? The hiring committees will probably be working with reference to Memorial Day. Either they want to make their decisions and take action before Memorial Day, or they want to get to work right after Memorial Day, or some combination of both. Those who have made decisions before Memorial Day will have sent rejection letters out that will reach me some time next week. Those that have decided to schedule me for an interview will have sent that info to Human Resources, or their department administrative assistant, who will start making calls next week. There's my logic. Add to that the fact that I will hear from Ocean County in the next two weeks, and this becomes a very interesting time for me.
Finally, as a student of American Foreign Policy with a strong research interest in International Law/Norms I found
Jimmy Carter's characterization of the Bush as “the worst in history” in international relations quite amusing. Since a picture is worth 1000 words, here's my 3000-word response:
For a written response, I recommend Investor's Business Daily's editorial series:
Profile in Incompetence. As of today parts 1-4 of the 10-part series are up.
Lacking a good sign-off for today's entry,
