What is fascinating is that because art imitates life, and art itself becomes integrated into life, art will always influence art as well. It will always be hard to identify a single root of all influence when it comes to sci-fi, I think, simply because every author has his/her own vision influenced by hundreds of factors in their lives. When one of them can make a lasting impression with his/her work, then it goes from being a product of influence to an influence on others.
I love that continuity in art!
