This is just a little post to welcome any and all new members to the community, and post some information for Members who obtain posting access to the comm...
If you do not have posting access yet and wish to obtain it, drop a comment here or on the Spam!Comments post. All I ask is that you provide information on what you plan on posting (both graphics an fandom wise) XD
UPDATED: 4/21/08
First, let me say that I am very pleased that you have decided to post on this community! I don't just want this to be a place for me to post only my stuff - I want it to be a 'safe haven' of sorts for anyone to post anything fandom they want (whether the fandom be based in a television show, movie, music), and just the fact that you wanted to post here makes me ubers happy! XD
I'm not gonna ask much from you, but there are a few little rules (if you will) that I ask that you stick to just to make sure the comm runs smoothly!
I. This is not so much a rule as it is a notice. My intention, at least for now, is to place a link to all posting member's journals on the recent entries page of the journal. I think this will make it easier for non-posting members to find our personal journals, for friending, or for leaving comments - whether it be feedback or requests, or whatsuch. By requesting posting access, you have to be aware that you are giving me permission to link to your journal. I will make exceptions for people who do not want their personal journals linked here, but I feel it has to be a damn good reason. So just keep that in mind.
II. All members posting for the first time must tag the post with 'first post'.
III. When posting, as with most communities, keep the majority of the post behind a cut if it's heavy in graphics. So, for example, if you've got tons of shiny icons to post, place three or four before a cut, and the rest behind. With banners/headers, I'll ask that you only put ONE before the cut (if it's of the larger persuasion, maybe use a thumbnail? I don't want members having problems on their flist pages with slow-loading/large graphics), and with Wallpapers, unless using a thumbnail, keep them all behind a cut. The only exception to the cut rule are videos, which you don't need to place behind a cut.
IV. At the beginning of any graphics post, all I ask that you state is what kind of graphic you are posting and for what fandom. Any other information, such as characters and/or ships included, is up to you whether you post it or not. SPOILERS WARNINGS, on the other hand, MUST be STATED BEFORE A CUT. I DO NOT want complaints of people being prematurely made aware of fandom stuffs simply because there was no warning posted. If you are not sure if it's spoilerish or not, than put a warning. Same goes for warning within fandom - If there's a specific ship you are posting for, I'm asking you make it known before hand.
V. To make this community as easily navigatable as possible, I'm asking that you use tags. When tagging a post, put what type(s) or graphic you are posting, the fandom, and your username. So, for example, i would tag an icon post like this: icons, dannysgirlsg1, stargate sg-1. It gives a variety of tags for people to browse through when they come on this comm. If you wish to use other tags, that is fine with me - so if I wanted to narrow down my tagging, I would add something like daniel/vala or malcolm reynolds to the tags above. If you are going to specify characters/ships within fandoms, I ask that you do the full version (meaning no abbreviations or name-splices, like Dala) for characters, and full first names for ships (so dv would be daniel/vala, jd - jack/daniel). It's okay if you miss a tag every once in a while - I will happily go in and just add it. But I don't want to make a habit of it, so please, stay ontop of tagging. If you are unsure of how to tag something, drop a comment on this post or the Spam!Comments post.
VI. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have all the resources used in whatever graphics you've made somewhere accessible for all to see. This means you can put the specific resources in every individual post you make, or provide a link to an overall list of resources you frequent. I'm not asking that you make a resources post here on the community, though you are free to do that if you like. If you do this, then I will put a link up to it in the links section on the user info page, and you do not have to credit your resources in any of your graphics post. Anybody who does NOT make a resources page on this community MUST provide a link for one on another journal OR list the resources in every single post. I'm sorry, but I will not have users or websites go uncredited for their brushes, bases, textures, caps, clips, and pics. It's just bad form.
VII. If you are open to requests, please let me know in a comment on this post, or on the Spam!Comments. If you ARE open to requests, I ask that you make a post stating what fandoms you work with, if you are willing to take requests for non-fandoms (meaning fandoms outside your own), and your own stipulations for your requests. If you wish to see an example of what I mean, check out mine own fandoms list/request page
H E R E. After you make this post, I will put a link to on the user info page, under Requests. If you wish to stop making requests after you've made the post, let me know, and I will lock down your page. Likewise, if you wish to start taking requests again, I will open it back up. There is no pressure on you to take requests simply because I, or other members, are.
I think that is all for the moment - If I think of anything else, I will definitely add it here and let you know that the 'rules' (that is such strong word, don't you think?!) have been updated.
So have fun posting here, and share in the love that is graphics making!
