Taro...pretty much everything I said in the Miki/Taro vote still stands. I could copy and paste it but you've read it once. From this latest post, I can say I appreciate Shaun trying to bring some of the earlier plots around and try to close them out but it felt rushed. I know this was the final post and it's not like you could have really done much more in the time you had left but I'll give props for taking the crit and trying to do something about it.
For Emi...Zarrah I've got to say, you finally got that emotional reaction out of me. When Emi was crying to Taro and those last flashbacks...I finally REALLY felt connected to her as a character. I think you used the fact that she's having to attack her last remaining friend to your advantage and really pushed it through. I actually teared up at one point and that's what I consider a successfully emotional post.
So yeah...rushed final vote is super rushed but for me it comes down to Zarrah having an edge as far as writing style goes. Characterization...I think Taro might be a bit more fleshed out overall.
You know...it's still stupid close but for me what it comes down to is really these last two posts. Both writers had the chance to do something that I haven't seen in an OC version...having two best friends facing each other at the end. There's so much going on in that situation mentally and emotionally. For me at least...Zarrah pushed those things across where I didn't have much of a reaction to Taro in the same situation. It was well written but there wasn't anything pushing out at me to feel the sorrow and empathy I felt for Emi.
I think...that's enough for me to give Emi my vote to win V9.
Can't wait to RP with you guys next version!
