I went hiking on Saturday with 9 others. We quickly covered the first 4.5 miles in under two hours, before stopping by the lake. Yet, this was only a start.
Next, another mile through the trees, though I was so curious to see above the trees that I went
scrambling up. Even from this higher point, there was not much more that I could see. So I scrambled back down and then had to quicken my pace to catch the group; whom I had asked to not wait for me. I rejoined them as we rested in the last patch of shade before ascending up sun strewn slopes.
Up and back, with ice cream in between. By our return, the constant sun and high temperatures were beginning to wear on me. I descended the ~2000' quickly and rested in the shade. Once in the trees again, a slower pace down to the lakes, where we switched to swimsuits and quickly cooled with ~45 degree water. Still, a few of us dared our bodies with swimming,
me. Or
Ryan, who swam across the lake.
Anyway, it was so warm that a couple minutes out of the water and you were already dry. So we descended in quick time. And then had ostrich burgers and milkshakes at Zeke's.
And today's high is lower than the weekend's lows.
