Sumary of Various Recent Things

As they say, "There are no coincidences in games."

It was an interesting session that mostly highlighted combat and technical skills. And that is one of the problems with most games, people are good at certain things. Only playing a hack & slash game can you get the entire party to focus on the same set of skills and even most normal D&D parties have a strong combat focus. Otherwise you enter combat and the wizard goes "I only memorized identifies today..."

Enough about other settings. We were traveling between Paradise and Kraken, when the liner found itself pulled out of jump space by an exPact destroyer, now pirate vessel. Combat guy snuck around the ship, while Ms Kennedy donned the giant orange EMERGENCY Vacc suit and I put on my tailored suit. I then started infiltrating the ship's computer. Combat guy watched the ship's security personal be overrun by the pirates, who then setup a secure position and also began hacking the computer. A couple pirates took a stroll through the cargo bay looking for loot and were sniped by combat guy.

The main position remained and eventually they acquired the passenger manifest. We learned only now that their targets were the party. They sent in the crack team, who quickly advanced to the lifts and made their way towards our rooms. I left to escort Ms Kennedy down to the cargo bay to rendezvous with combat guy. We ditched our locator badges on a passing robot and sent it away from the cargo area.

Combat guy eliminated the remainder of the secure position. When we arrived, he donned one of their combat suits and pretended to be a wounded pirate to gain access to their shuttle and then proceeded to shoot the ship's pilot. I then boarded and found that the pilot was logged in to the destroyer's computer. Heh heh. :) I set the computer for emergency jump to random coordinates. Once the destroyer jumped, we notified the captain that it might be time to depart.

Iaido class was fun, but hot. Think something like wearing sweats and doing 1.5 hours of exercise in 80 degree weather. I spent much of the time just trying to work on the overhead cut. I've also found how little certain combinations of leg muscles get used when playing soccer. When playing soccer, I run out of breath well before the legs are tired, but there are some leg exercises that I can't do more than 3 or 4 of at Iaido.

gaming, iaido
