I totally understand that "OMG EWW WTF" reaction. I had it to Delphi, which smelt entirely of cat pee. And d00m. It was horrid. I couldn't even put it on. So it went to swaps. I was sad, because Delphi is one of my most favorite places!
Seriously, body chemistry is so strange...up until now, everything had smelled, if not marvelous, at least good. Well, wait...there was Herr Drosselmeyer, about whom I wasn't sure. And Alone. I'm still not sure about that one.
I didn't get ass from Scarecrow...I did get a scent like vegetable cooking oil though! Which was weird, but not too unpleasant. I also got the 'hot straw and hay' note, and something pine-y. Interesting, but not my thing.
Actually, I've had a couple smell absolutely horrifying in the vial, and smell fine on. Or even better than fine. And some stuff that smells nice in the vial is just *wrong* on me...
Exactly. Going through my new imps today, Sheol smelled great in the vial but stanky on, and Death Cap smelled like paint remover until it hit my skin and morphed into a lovely earthy-spicy resin.
I force myself to try every oil that I receive on, because with BPAL gambles can really pay off.
Scarecrow's not quite my thing, but I remember being pleasantly surprised at how nice it turned out the first time I tried it. Very grassy and light.
Yeah, I've definitely heard that, but there are so many others that I like, I figure everyone's got at least *one* in their swap pile. (Plus, this month's going to be tight, so I've got to stop all possible addictions in their tracks--so to speak.)
