Life seems to be changing a bit for me at the moment. My boyfriend and I moved into our new home at the start of the year and we have now almost finished getting it all sorted. This largely means just spending a fortune on furniture and everything else one needs. Dawei has a good idea for quality and he sometimes needs a little reining in, but I have to say that he has done a fantastic job with everything. I've always lived with hand-me-downs or the cheapest stuff from IKEA and it feels great coming back to a comfortable home after work each day.
I am also getting my health sorted - having ignored the fact of how overweight I am, I've finally decided to get that sorted. I started three weeks ago and I am shedding just under 1lb per day. I am eating plenty - I just stick to the healthy stuff. I always thought health food would be dull food, but not at all. I have always liked fruit and veg, but it also turns out that things like steak is also good for you (taking into account how it is prepared). I have also ramped up my exercise regimen. I use the fitbit app (if anyone out there uses it, then let me know and we can run challenges). Previous to three weeks ago I was doing 4k steps per day. Now I am averaging 20k a day. If the weather is nice then I do a 90 minute walk before work. I need a back up plan for crappy days though - so I am looking into joining a gym. There is a small one near my home which looks like it might be just the ticket. I feel so much fitter even after such a short period of time.
I am also in the process of getting a dog. I am off to visit one later this week, but she looks ideal. I don't want to get my hopes up too much in case it doesn't work out, but I am still very excited. I'll avoid posting pics until things get sorted.
And in perhaps my biggest news... I came out to my father last week. He and my step-mother were due to visit on Friday and it seemed the right time to tell him (or in other words: I couldn't put it off any longer.) He was amazingly fine about it. They both met Dawei and it was a little awkward but it was polite and friendly and we have been invited up to stay.
