Last weekend, Liverpool beat Bolton 2-0. While this looks like a fairly good result, there was much concern at the fact that there were four more opportunities from within the six yard box that went awry. It really should have been 6-0. Finishing after a good build-up was a bugbear for the team last year (with the except of Torres), so it's a concern that we should let four goal opportunities slip by. But we did get the win, and I'm pleased with that.
There is no club football midweek. Instead it is International Friendlies. That is, national teams are playing each other in non-competition matches. This afternoon England is playing Germany at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. It's already well under way, and England are winning 1-0 at half time.
This weekend Fulham travels to Anfield. I am sensing a win for the Reds here as the Cottagers haven't really been performing away from Craven Cottage. But you can never count Fulham out, as they have a very good squad, including former Red, Danny Murphy. American Clint Dempsey is also likely to be an important player for them. See you at the Brewhouse at 9:30 for a 10am kick-off.
Next Wednesday takes us back to the Champions League, wherein Liverpool will host the French side Marseille. When Liverpool traveled to Stade Vélodrome earlier in the season the Reds came away with a 2-1 win. We will be looking to see another win here, which should confirm Liverpool's place in the next round of the competition with a game in hand. This game is set to kick off at 2:45pm on Wednesday.
