I have to get up and drive to Birmingham (yes, Red State) tomorrow.
But I wanted to say that I think you guys ultimately made the better choice tonight. McCain is not the same person of 8 years ago. He should have been elected president then.
While I have my concerns about the new president-elect, they are somewhat less than what I have for the McCain that missed out this time. Well, maybe not less, just different.
I am holding out hope that he can deliver.
No, America will not devolve into a socialist backwater. While I do have concerns about a Democrat controlled White House, Senate and House, I'm hoping that his economic advisers will encourage him to veto much of the crap that will get delivered to him. And it will. I have no doubt about that.
No, as I said, America will not become a socialist backwater, as some of those I read do predict. It will not become a target of extremist terrorism because of the new president - it already is such a target.
I think (hope) that Obama will stay centrist. That's probably for the best. I'm concerned about wealth reallocation, the deficit, and regulation. We'll see what his real policies look like. But you know what, I think I can live for four years with a president that screws with my money rather than one that screws with my civil liberties. 'Cause you know what? That last president screwed civil liberties up the arse and didn't say "please" first. And that's just not appropriate.
