i'm trying to come up with other options for nearby and potentially less expensive travel in and around southern california. below is a list i threw together of some possibilities for weekends away. if you have any suggestions for affordable & specific (names of) places to stay [ie, hotels, bnbs, hostels, campgrounds] / places to go / things to do, i'd love to hear 'em!
our travel challenge is really hitting my bank account hard.
i thought travel auctions sounded really promising, but the site a friend told me about (
luxurylink.com) was just way too far out of my price range, and the site I discovered on my own,
offandaway.com was a totally frustrating waste of time and money. best find so far was
airbnb.com though i think there is a lot of risk involved in a site like that!
Travelzoo came through back in january when we stayed at a winery in Temecula,
Jetsetter is ALWAYS tempting, but also always expensive!
so...yeah. any suggestions are totally welcome.
Thank you in advance!
