There is so much stupdity regarding and hatred of Obama that it reallys make me feel ill and ashamed to be an American. I cannot believe we have so many willfully stupid and hateful people. But these are the same people who got Dubya elected.

I find the entire tone of the election tiring. I sympathize with Obama, because I feel that he is doing his best to keep this as far from race as possible and others (media-not opponents) keep bringing it to the table. I find it disgraceful that the news media has more or less stated that if Obama loses, it's racism (couldn't be, you know, different political views, or personal dislike based on other issues than race) ..and lets be honest, there are probably blacks voting for him just because he is black, just as there are whites not voting for him because he's not white. Politics always has been a populatity contest-- I think it's pretty clear who has the advantage there.

I am *deeply* embarrassed by anyone disregarding Obama because of his race, or Hilary or Sarah Palin because they are women. There are plenty of complaints to be made with more information on them-- ignorant discrimination should not be a factor, but of course, it is.

To be fair, both candiates are definitely American citizens. It's long been a caveat to citizenship that if you are born in another country due to a parent's military service, you are still an American citizen. I know because when I was in school, we had a guy who was born in Germany while his father was in the air force--We brought the question to our teacher who brushed of our concerns with complete confidence that he was definitely a citizen. So they weren't making anything special happen for McCain.

Both candidates have tried keeping their families out of it (exception of the wives, obviously), which I find a nice change from the days when I felt painfully sorry for Chelsea Clinton. Even so, if your family has one set of views, it doesn't mean you agree. Republican Schwarzenegger married into Democratic Shriver family anyone?
