I killed a skunk yesterday. I tried to avoid it as I came around a turn, but the bump confirmed it. I felt really guilty.

Otherwise yesterday was good. I decided to head up to LA and check out the Santa Monica art complex. Some interesting stuff, but mostly overpriced galleries. As I got into my car I saw Eugene Levy (mockumentary powerhouse- looking very much like he does in this picture)

who had parked next to me. I am a fan, but decided to respect his privacy.

Anyway, still had most of the afternoon so I decided to explore the roads that flow through the Santa Monica mountains like capillaries. There's only a few major arteries ending in malibu, ventura, the valley etc., but lots of tiny ones that flow way back into the canyons. Saw many houses that you wouldn't even know were tucked way back on roads that go from paved, to graded, to full on dirt fireroads (love my Jeep). Places to build are very limited since the terrain is so mountainous- exclusive & secluded, no wonder lots of Hollywood bigwigs live there. Oh, and it's beautiful.

I didn't know the range was so expansive. Found a little hiking trail at the end of an offshoot of the old Santa Monica Canyon road (which is an offshoot of the new Santa Monica Canyon road). Guessing it connected to the semi-well known Backbone trail, but I didn't get that far.

You could just see a light sprinkle illuminated by the sun floating down. A very nice spot, completely silent except for birds.

Fire clouds.

Well, a nothing day turned into something after all. Cheers.
