Passion and money don't mix
I've realized that I'm more than ok with scrubbin' toilets for the next decade or so, if I can just publish art history articles on the side. I don't want to associate my passions with earning money for a living (unless I am my own boss on every level - which, lets face it, isn't likely to happen). Plus, I like grunt labor. When I leave work like that, I don't have to take it home with me. Work ends up separate from anything I care about. I care about good work ethic on grunt jobs, mind you, but that is different than having a job that I care about the kind of work I do/produce.
